It is possible to set a data usage threshold so that when the usage in the current billing period exceeds it, a message is generated. This facility is commonly used to warn the customer that a SIM's usage is nearing its allowance. The message can be an email and/or a portal notification depending on configuration. The data threshold for individual SIMs is configured in the SIM Details screen.
For direct customers, it is also possible to set a data usage threshold on a Tariff Group. When the group's alert threshold is reached a message is generated. The message can be an email and/or a portal notification depending on configuration. The data threshold is configured in the tariff pop-up window (see Setting alerts on Tariff Groups).
- Some MNOs do not report usage during data sessions. Consequently, for those MNOs, SIM alerts and caps will only be triggered at the end of the data session.
